Learn Balloon Twisting – 3 Basic Tips and Techniques
Balloon Twisting
If you are interested to learn balloon twisting, here are a number of tips to help you learn and master this skill.
Even if you are just watching a professional balloon twister doing the task, you would surely be amazed of how creative and entertaining it is to learn balloon twisting. Whether you are a party organizer or balloon decorator, or you are a clown who wants to entertain your audience more, or you simply want to wow your little audiences, here are a few tips that can help you learn balloon twisting.
One of the very first techniques that you have to learn when venturing into balloon twisting or making animals and other designs is learning how to inflate the balloons. You may first think of using your lungs to inflate them but it is wiser to get a hand pump especially if you are in a party or in a crows. One important technique that you have to keep in mind is to leave enough space to allow you to twist your balloon.

It is important that you have to sure there is still enough space that will allow you to twist. Twisting can increase the air pressure inside the balloon and not having enough space when you do your twisting can make the balloon burst.
Not inflating the balloon too much will also make it easier to twist and mold as well. Leaving 2 to 4 inches space on the tail end would be ideal, of course, depending on how many bubbles you want to create or the design you want to make.
Another basic technique that you have to learn is to pinch a portion of the balloon where you want to twist to push the air on the two sides of the balloon. Then you can twist that part to a few times to create two bubbles. If you want to make several bubbles, you can also make longer ones then fold them before twisting to make more bubbles. You can use pinching and twisting to help you make ears tails and other parts of your balloon animals.
Pulling or pushing through is also another technique that you can do to learn balloon twisting. This technique allows you to push a bubble in a loop that you previously created by pulling or pushing through.
If you are interested to learn balloon twisting, it helps a lot to find a great resource that can guide you through the details of twisting and modeling. Of course, it is important that you also practice constantly to help you master this skill. Like any other skill, practice is important to help you hone it and make good at it.

I do occasional balloon sculpture for parties and special events. I have a delicious Pink Panther pattern that is pretty popular because of its intricacy and recognizability. One time, while I was in a rush, I quickly twisted one out and then realized, after I’d handed to to the woman, I had the tail pointing out the wrong direction. You’d think I would have caught it as it was being fomed, but, after cranking out dozens of shapes in an hour or so, I find myself working in “autopilot,” with my hand twisting the shapes while my conscious mind is talking and doing the “patter” with the audience.
Luckily, the lady was nice and had a sense of humor.
